NYC MAKEUP SHOW 2012!! Whoohoo!!

Attending the NYC MakeUp Show reminded me of the energy my 2 year old daughter has.  I had her excitement as if I were walking into Dylan Candy Shop. Except this was my grown up version of her everyday life.

This MAKE UP SHOW is the real deal, best of the best in the Professional MakeUp industry. It just doesn't get better than this! The second I walked in my eyes lit up and lost my senses of where to begin first...I discovered there, at that moment...I'm a MakeUp Junkie!!!

This year the show featured keynote speakers/presenters that are the absolute best in the business and spoke on the most influential topics and the products shown at the event are the very best in the industry. Some of the greats keynote speakers were.  Troy Jenson who's worked with everybody from Jennifer Lopez & Gwyneth Paltrow to almost every red carpet celebrity.

Johnny Lavoy a makeup artist and hair stylist on the very top of his game in this industry. His work can be seen in magazines like Vanity Fair, Vogue Italia and many more.

And last on my list but not least because there were more speakers, but I had to include Frances Hathaway who is known as one of the world's top makeup artist and has inspired many beauty brand today. Her editorial and ad campaigns are countless, working with photographers like Mario Testino and Nick Knight to name a couple.

It was an amazing opportunity to network and learn about all of the top brands, like, NARS, MAKE UP FOREVER, M.A.C. TEMPTU PRO, etc., and see what's new and trending and what the line is really about.  INGLOT had a lot of excitement at the booth that was difficult for me to get to, so I got some insight from some of the makeup pro artists' I spoke with and agreed that, "it's what M.A.C. used to be"...Ouch!.  So I was even more determined, I squeezed my way to the front and I now have the contact info I need to deliver the reviews in a later blog!...AWESOME!

Smaller brands that are making a big name and are super HOT! right now is (OCC) OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE COSMETICS, a 100% vegan & cruelty free line, the booth was a mess! the reps for the line were going nuts trying to attend to everyone.  A lot of they're products were sold out but I got my liptar : )  It's one of my favorites and use currently on my clients.

WHIP HAND COSMETICS also a smaller & new line is getting a lot of buzz.  I spoke with the Founder & Chief Makeup artist Riese Lauriat about her line. What inspired her was, the years of being in the business as a makeup artist and salon owner and not finding products that will cover the range of colors and pigment she was looking and having to create it in different brands.  So she created her own with her husband Matt Cardwell who was also very informative and passionate about the line.  The full line comes out this week.

Egon Schiele
I got a sample of her cheek & Lip tint.  Contains mango butter and Camellia oil so it goes on smooth, love the texture.  But I'm the kind of girl who will either wear on my lips or cheeks, not both...still funny about that : )

Smashbox MakeUp artist demo presentator
Smashbox artist gave us tips on applying lip liner and the 4 new NUDE colors they offer which come in Pinkish Nude, Soft Nude, Warm Nude & Deep Nude.  The pencil will perfectly match your lip tone and create a beautiful, natural looking definition. Taking the guess work out of choosing the right color lip liner to go with your lipstick.  So it's the only lip liner you'll ever need : ) Just choose the shade that coordinates with your natural skin color.  It's also creamy enough to work under your lip gloss!

I only wish I had more money to spend.  I would have definitely walked away with one of these...

Glamcor
A luxury hand crafted MakeUp Studio on the GO! you can pack this baby up and travel to your clients and feel like the salon has arrived to your home!! I freakin love this thing!!!

The discounts drove me nuts I had to reel it in and STOP! Think my of intention and remind myself that the main purpose of attending was for this blog. That I wanted to keep my readers up to date with the latest beauty and lifestyle products. Ughf!!

There are more products I learned about like, YOUNGBLOOD, BODYOGRAPHY & ARMOUR BEAUTY that I will continue to share as I go along my blog journey. Hope you'll join me : )

To all you Professionals out there make sure to mark your calendar and attend it next year if you missed, it really is the only one in this industry that counts!

Love, light & Beauty!
xoxo

  1. Hi Lily! We've been meaning to stop by and leave a comment since you posted this article. Thank you so much for the very nice mention in your Makeup Show NYC recap. It was such a pleasure meeting and talking with you. Just as a point of clarification, I managed a salon, but didn't own it. Just want to make sure that was corrected. Again, thank you for the great post! ~Riese
